| Fulfilling the Commandment in Matthew 25:35
The Homeless Ministry at St. John has been tremendously blessed to be a blessing for the Homeless Shelter of Greenville. As the leader of this ministry, Evangelist Black takes pride in all that goes into making sure God's plan and command is carried out which can be found in Matthew 25:35. The ministry serves the homeless population at the shelter on fifth Sunday evenings with a hot full course meal, drinks, and desert. On fourth Saturdays, Sis. Pearlie Dixon is up and out early supplying them with bag lunches.
Prior to their meals on fifth Sundays, members and other volunteers have devotion with the occupants of the shelter. But as they are almost done with their meals and before close out, the group is given an opportunity to receive one on one prayer and counseling as well as some ministry material in which they can refer to at a later time. On special occasions, the ministry may also supply special care packages which contain items of need. We never know from day to day what our situation will be, therefore it behooves all of us to treat everyone as we ourselves would want to be treated.
The youth at St. John also volunteer as well. They are taught that we are all somebody to God.
